I’m James Dennis—discus thrower, coach, and lifelong student of the ring. I grew up in Northeast Ohio, threw at the University of Louisville, and went on to compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2000, 2004, and 2008. My personal best is 63.55 meters, and I’m still competing in Open and Masters meets across the world.

Even after decades of competitions, multiple injuries, and plenty of life changes, I continue to chase the goal of throwing over 61 meters again. It’s a challenge that demands discipline, resilience, and creativity—qualities that have shaped me both as an athlete and as a professional. I believe I can reach that mark again, and I embrace the journey with humility and joy. Every training session, every meet, every setback and breakthrough is part of a story I get to share with the throwing community.

I care about turning repetition into results: technical clarity, consistent training, and smart recovery. I run clinics, mentor throwers, and share drills, progress trackers, and film study notes, so athletes can build better habits faster. I’m also exploring new tools and technologies to elevate how we train and measure success in the throws.
